~ADORNMENTS & ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Tonight I'm making some whimsically lovely earbobs while watching the 2010 version of Alice in Wonderland on the telly.

What a scrumptious feast of creative inspiration is found in this flick.  Enjoy these tidbits from the silver screen...

Here is a video in which Johnny Depp discusses his transformation into The Mad Hatter.  He also talks about actual hatters (milliners); in the past, the glue they used to construct hats contained mercury, and inhaling its fumes caused them to become, well, mad as hatters.

Here is a still from the movie of Alice painting the roses red...

Here is a photion from the same scene in the 1951 version of the film...

And here is a video of the 1951 version of the scene (on youtube).

Painting the roses red
We're painting the roses red
We dare not stop
Or waste a drop
So let the paint be spread
We're painting the roses red
We're painting the roses red
Oh, painting the roses red
And many a tear we shed
Because we know
They'll cease to grow
In fact, they'll soon be dead
And yet we go ahead
Painting the roses red
Painting the roses red
We're painting the roses red
Oh, pardon me
But Mister Three
Why must you paint them red?
*talking*
Huh? Oh! Well, the fact is, Miss
We planted the white roses by mistake
And...
*singing*
The Queen she likes 'em red
If she saw white instead
She'd raise a fuss
And each of us
Would quickly lose his head
[Alice:Goodness!]
Since this is the part we dread
We're painting the roses red
[Alice:Oh, Dear! Then let me help you]
Painting the roses red
We're painting the roses red
Don't tell the Queen what you have seen
Or say that's what we said
But we're painting the roses red
Yes, painting the roses red
Not pink
Not green
Not aquamarine
We're painting the roses red!
