~SONG FOR THE DAY

Lily Grace lives next door,
The ripe young age of ninety-four,
I see her in her garden everyday.
Still sings in the Sunday choir,
Reads up King James line by line,
And tells me "Son, Jesus is the way."

Her husband passed in '85,
But she still keeps their love alive.
Kisses his photograph every night,
Says "I'll see you soon."

Ooh... Lily Grace, I see God in you.

I met him right before a show,
His mom said, "This is Gabriel.
The doctors say he shouldn't be alive."
Some may call him special needs,
But Jesus calls him royalty,
Just look and you'll see heaven in his eyes.

He was quiet as the dawn,
'Til I started my first song.
He clapped his hands and danced all night long,
Like there was nothing wrong.

Ooh... Gabriel, I see God in you.
Ooh...

Are you weary, are you weak,
Filled with insecurities?
Believe me, you are not the only one.
I get scared to look inside myself,
I know that darkness oh so well,
I sometimes wonder if I'm too far gone.

But even in my doubts I'll choose,
To hold on to this truth.
That God is making broken things brand new,
Even me and you.

Ooh... I see God in you.
Ooh... yeah, I see God in you.
I see God in you... oh oh, I see God in you.
I see God in you... oh oh, I see God in you.

~THREE CHEERS FOR THIS ICY TREAT!

A few nights ago, I moseyed over to a local grocery store to buy a few things, including a jar of my favorite pasta sauce and a few cans of cat food.  As I was walking down the aisles, it suddenly occurred to me that some popsicles would taste oh-so-delicious.  I zeroed in on the fruity-types and noticed that a big ol' box of banana twin-pops was on sale for under $2.  I put it in my cart, but not before catching sight of what was right next to it on the freezer shelf: Cheerwine ice cream bars!  Let's just say that I decided to buy two boxes of pops that night.

I haven't had Cheerwine in ages for a couple of reasons.  For one thing, I don't usually see it in the stores, though maybe it's there, and I'm not noticing it.  But the main reason is that I don't like to drink caffeinated soda.  Luckily, these pops are made with Cheerwine flavor, not the actual soda, so they do not contain caffeine.

I think they're very tasty, and are great for people who like the orange creamsicle concept, yet want to mix it up a little.

I say dig in--but not so fast that you get brain freeze! ☺

If you would like to find out how Cheerwine got its name, read the second paragraph of the "Overview and History" section of this wikipedia article.

*The Cheerwine pops are Food Lion brand, so I would assume they are not sold in other supermarkets!

By the by, Ginger Huckleberry was very pleased with his snacks.  Don't eat it all at once Ginger!
(Pictured are some of his faves: Fancy Feast Liver & Chicken, Friskies Mixed Grill Classic Paté, and Whiskas Filet Mignon)

~NAIL ART FOR THE DAY

I love how the fingernail can act as a tiny canvas, home to a mini work of art.  I don't paint my nails very often for two reasons.  One, I'm sensitive to chemicals (though it is possible to buy non-toxic polish), and two, when I make jewelry and do other crafty things, my nail paint quickly becomes a thing of the past.  However, I can't help but be fascinated by the micro-artistry of the mani (and pedi).  This version is sure to make you smile, whether or not you have facial hair ☺.

Here is a listing for 'stache nail stickers on etsy, along with a pic of a very spiffy French mustache-mani ☺.

Here is another listing for 'stache nail stickers on etsy, and they come in countless colors.

Here is a third listing for waterslide decals for nails on etsy--am loving this eyeglass-and-'stache design!

And lastly, what a snazzy robin's-egg-blue mustache mani this is, though I can't find a link to the maker of these decals...
