Audrey Hepburn...

As I mentioned in a previous post, my sister Meg is getting hitched this October. Needless to say, our mother was browsing on Pinterest, came across some photos of Audrey Hepburn, and had a light-bulb moment...we should have a Breakfast at Tiffany's-themed shower for her! And, that's exactly what we did!!

The party...
A super-sized poster of Audrey that we happened to have was propped up against the doorway, greeting our guests as they entered...

A photo in a fancy frame of my sis and her fiancé...

A glittery frame holds a pic of Audrey, and an iconic black-and-white shot is on the right. The over-sized "diamong ring" is a napkin ring that Mom and I found on a trip to Pier One Imports.

Mom created beautiful flower arrangements in mason jars, which she adorned with lace, vintage earrings, and other trimmings and thingamabobs...

She also crafted kitschy decoupaged Audrey bottles...

Her sparkly votives were oh-so-special as well--you'll find them scattered throughout the photos, including the shot below...

The mother of the groom gifted us with mini bottles of bath salts and bookmarks...

After eating, we read some Breakfast at Tiffany's trivia questions and gave out prizes to those who answered most astutely. The questions are below, and the answers are at the end of the post...
~ What does Audrey eat in the opening scene of the movie?
~ What actress was originally cast in Audrey's role (Holly Golightly)?
~ What was Audrey's salary for the movie?
~ How many different cats were used throughout the movie for the role of Cat--one, three, nine, or fourteen?
~ The little black dress that Audrey wore in the movie was designed by Givenchy. On December the 5th, 2006, it was auctioned by Christie's. What price did it fetch? *The selling price was the most ever paid for a dress from a movie until June, 2011, when the white dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in the Seven-Year Itch sold for more.

After we finished with the game-playing, we had a drawing for a necklace, which was made with love by yours truly. The mother of the groom received an identical one ☺.
...Okay, okay. Maybe that's not really the way that quote is supposed to go. I think it's something more like this...

And then, that time had finally arrived--
gift time!

Oh, here I am being a ham after the shower...

Sadly, I do not have a nifty Cracker Jack ring (much less one engraved at Tiffany & Co.). But, as it turns out, I have an even more splendiferous ring that I crafted myself, and I'm tickled pink with it. I also made an extra one, and it's available on my website...

And, last but not least, here are the trivia answers...
~ At the beginning of the movie, Audrey eats a Danish pastry. As it turns out, she hated that particular food, so shooting the scene was a chore for her.
• ~ • ~ •
~ Marilyn Monroe was first cast as Holly Golightly, but she decided to pass on the role.
• ~ • ~ •
~ Audrey's salary for the movie was $750,000. This made her the second-highest paid actress behind Elizabeth Taylor at the time.
• ~ • ~ •
~ Nine cats were used during the filming of the movie in the role of Cat (^..^)
• ~ • ~ •
~ The fabulous little black dress Audrey wore in the film sold for $920,000. Five years later, Marilyn Monroe's white dress sold for $4.6 million.

Well, it's been delightful, but that concludes the recapping of our Breakfast at Tiffany's-themed festivities...
Let's never fail to fully believe in the fantastic power of
love
(and pink).
