~FOOTAGE OF OUR FEATHERED FRIENDS

Below are several youtube videos which contain footage of hatching robins.  One is a 20-minute documentary that is amazingly done and fascinating to watch.

~SPRING HAS HATCHED...WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT THAT?

Since the weather was sunny and warm today, I went for a short walk.  I came across a heart-shaped,
pollen-dusted leaf and what appears to be portions of
a robin's-egg shell.  I hope all is well with the former inhabitant of the egg, and that the redbreast is now soaring the skies.

A Wintry Sonnet
~By: Christina Rossetti~

A Robin said: The Spring will never come,
And I shall never care to build again.
A Rosebush said: These frosts are wearisome,
My sap will never stir for sun or rain.
The half Moon said: These nights are fogged and slow,
I neither care to wax nor care to wane.
The Ocean said: I thirst from long ago,
Because earth's rivers cannot fill the main. —
When Springtime came, red Robin built a nest,
And trilled a lover's song in sheer delight.
Grey hoarfrost vanished, and the Rose with might
Clothed her in leaves and buds of crimson core.
The dim Moon brightened. Ocean sunned his crest,
Dimpled his blue, yet thirsted evermore.

~YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAKE AND 'PEEP' IT TOO!

~ ~ ~

I've come across two recipes which incorporate
Party Cake Peeps.  This flavor debuted in 2013 in
honor of Peeps' 60th Anniversary, and it's sold only at Walmart.  Not only are these candies cute-as-a-button and robin's-egg blue, they are also very tasty and smell exactly like yellow-cake!

Here's to yummy and fun-to-look-at Easter 'tweets'.

This cake is delightfully adorned with Peeps AND
pretty pink roses--what could be better?

And this Peeps Cake Batter Candy is sure to please!

A PRETTY & WHIMSICAL EASTER TABLE IDEA? COOL BEANS!

These jellybean napkin rings are a real treat!

Instructions:
Thread small, brightly colored jelly beans on 22-gauge tin wire, long enough to wrap around a rolled napkin twice.  Curl ends into swirls to keep candy in place.

*I'm not sure why 'tin' wire was specifically suggested.  I don't see why other types wouldn't work just as well.  In any case, wire that would suit this project can usually be found in the jewelry-making section of major craft stores.
